Well hello follower, blog time!
Over the Easter weekend we popped off to Amsterdam for a little sightseeing and respite from blighty! The weather weather was bitter cold with the occasional light snow flurry early morning, but mostly bright blue, yippee!
We stayed close to the centre of town in a hotel called the Times on Herengracht, comfy and ok, no Ritz, but fine for a short city break, apart from the canal view being obscured by scaffold and netting!
We did a fair bit of walking over three days, complete with dodging bicycles and trams, both are silent stalkers and I always get confused as to which direction I should be looking! We packed a fair bit in to our short time, queued 2hrs+ to get in to the Anne Frank museum, but well worth it, an odd feeling seeing the emptiness and reading quotes of its inhabitants! Next to the museum is a wonderful old church Westerkerk, it was used by seafarers as a land mark, somewhat dwarfed by modern standards, but still, the tower is open to visitors and good views can be seen. Many canals were walked and yes, we did stroll to De Wallen (red light district).
We had a fabulous weekend, I recommend a visit, it is a wonderful bright city. Take a look at my gallery and let me know what you think. The picture above was taken in Dam Square, long exposure & HDR.
I have an interest in photography and am attempting to train my eye and improve my technique!
